Core Values
God promised to write His Law on all hearts. We all therefore have the same conscience, and when we consult it, we find we all share similar moral values: Love, Forgiveness, Truth, Justice and Peace for all people, particularly including those who are rejected or ignored by society. The Good News revealed by Jesus is that God is not a distant, judgmental God. He is a personal God who understands that we struggle with these standards, as is starkly demonstrated by historical and current events. He is a God who is eager to forgive and help us.
Core Beliefs
The one, true God is the Trinity of the Father, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God made everything and everyone; He loves us and wants all to be saved. Jesus died to pay the penalty for our wrongdoing and rose again so that we can share in his eternal new life. The Holy Spirit empowers us to minister forgiveness, healing and gifts, and frees us from our sinfulness, to do good works. The world has had many good teachers, recognised as great prophets by many religions, but only one saviour, Jesus Christ, whose sacrificial death and resurrection, foretold in the Jewish Old Testament, makes up for our inability to live up to those God-inspired teachings.
Grounds for Believing
The world’s principal dating system has acknowledged Jesus as ‘Lord’ and given him the pivotal position in human history. No serious scholar doubts that Jesus existed – there are far more historical records written closer to the event than for any other ancient historical character. These include multiple, even hostile, eyewitness testimonies to what he said and did. He claimed to be equal to God and the only way to God. He proved this by demonstrating the hallmarks of the God who made the universe and life – the ability to create, override the physical laws of nature and exert power over life and death. The ultimate proof of his claims was his own resurrection from the dead. He is alive today and continues to work indisputable miracles of physical healing and to transform people’s lives by bringing them into a personal relationship with himself.”
