Core Values

Being good and doing Good is the way Hindus promote values in individual, in families and in society. The idea of goodness is invoked either through a theistic approach by reference to God as a grand personality responsible for this creation or through non-theistic approaches that invokes the spiritual dimension of mankind and focuses on the greater unity at a spiritual level between all living things, hence the need for reverence for all life forms.

Core Beliefs

Coming to terms with the laws that govern the universe both external and internal is defined as 'religion' by the Hindus. Harnessing these laws for the benefit of mankind is seen as the practise of religion. The underpinning to this universe is spiritual and not material. All religions including Hinduism are attempts to manifest this hidden spiritual dimension. This can be done through selfless work or worship or meditation or sheer force of reason.

Grounds for believing

The Hindu faith says that it is wonderful to start a religious journey with belief in God but this is only the start of the journey. The conclusion to this journey can only come with 'first hand realisation' not in the hereafter but here and now. Hence the key word in the Hindu tradition is not belief but 'realisation'. The only proof of God say the Hindus is first hand experience of God. If it was possible for one individual to experience God and if God is a universal phenomenon than the doorways have been opened up for all of us to experience God for ourselves. The aim of Hindu life is to experience God first hand here and now rather than in the hereafter.
