How often have you heard it said: “Why don’t they just…”, or “They really should…”, or “If only they would…”?

The world faces many problems, and often the answer seems to be staring you in the face, but it doesn’t seem to be obvious to those who are actually running the show. There are several possibilities here: It could be that someone who is closer to the problem has thought it through and realises that although it sounds like a good solution, it wouldn’t work in practice. It could be that others who have thought of your solution don’t have the clout to make it happen. Or, it could be that, genuinely, no one else has come up with your idea.

This site seeks to harness the ingenuity of the entire community to find the best ways of solving local, national and international problems. Anyone in the community, regardless of status, finance, connections or experience will be able to upload their bright ideas for the rest of the community to rate. So long as the idea is ethical and moral, it will be posted on the site. In order to ensure that people make sound judgements, they will not just be asked for an overall rating, but also to mark particular things, such as how much the solution might cost, how long it will take to bear fruit, how much impact it will have on the problem, how acceptable it will be to those affected and the seriousness of any side-effects.

The ideas receiving the best ratings, and therefore carrying the weight of public opinion, will be presented to the appropriate political power, such as the prime minister and opposition parties or your local council. This could be a good way to get your voice heard.
